Британский историографический канон, основы которого заложил Д. Юм в «Истории Англии»1, получил развитие в трудах В. Робертсона2 и Э. Гиббона, предопределив в перспективе специфику структурирования Н. Карамзиным «Истории государства Российского». В статье продолжен компаративный анализ микроструктуры трудов британских историков, начатый в статье о макроистории Юма3. Повторяющиеся (ПР), однотипные (ОР) и кросс-сегментарные рубрики (КСР или КС-рубри-ки), как маркеры усилий Гиббона по систематизации исторических фактов, выявляются в границах монархического, элитарного, управленческо-правового, конфессионального, конфликтного, этнокультурного сег-ментов и комплекса рубрик о положении.

Монархический сегмент микроструктуры труда Гиббона представлен КС-рубриками о происхождении, учреждении4, характере5, гражданских войнах с участием правителей, о первом, последнем, финальном, о гибели6. Значителен комплекс кратких рубрик, информировавших об именах и титулах, подвластной территории, о царствованиях7, вступлении на престол, избрании, тирании, триумфе, образе действий и управления, свойствах, смерти, убийстве8. В двойных рубриках подчеркивалась специфика жизненного пути и кончины правителей9. Пролонгированные однотипные рубрики доносили до читателя основные линии сюжета10. Политической элите посвящены КС-рубрики о характере, падении, революциях, о последнем, финальном11, знати, лидерах крестовых походов, борьбы за республику в Риме, о полководце, министрах, патриции, герцогах, сенаторах, о Петрарке как поэте и участнике событий, о смерти представителей элиты12. Проблемам управления и права посвящены КС-рубрики о происхождении, учреждении, основании, положении, разрушении, реставрации13, об общем, гражданском14, о пространстве государств, о разделении власти и различиях15, о первом, новом, финальном16, формах правления, о власти, властных структурах, имперских прерогативах, титулах и должностях, численности сената и вооруженных сил, о налогах, доходах, имитационном характере политических институтов Римской империи, законах, судах, судебных процессах, ограничениях отцовской власти, свободы развода17.

К обобщающим отнесены КС-рубрики-рассмотрения, отступления, заключения, описания18, КС-рубрики о происхождении и положении народов19, о положении городов и государств, в т.ч. о бедственном20, о падении и разделении империй21, об общем и финальном22, рубрики об упадке23 и компаративные рубрики24.

Конфессиональный сегмент представлен КС-рубриками о происхождении, основании, положении25, прогрессе, упадке, разрушении, реставрации26, об общем, первом, окончательном27, рубрикой-рассмотрением о прогрессе христианства, рубриками о гонениях, разрушении церквей, обращении28, восточных патриархах, главах западной церкви, их избрании, церковных соборах, усердии в делах веры, учениях о бессмертии души, сектах, ересях, переговорах и расколах, объединении29, об амбициях, характере и смерти священнослужителей30.

Конфликтный сегмент включал КС-рубрики о причинах, следствиях, гражданских, первых, последних, окончательных конфликтах31, революциях32, о недовольствах, восстаниях33, вторжениях34, войнах, битвах, осадах, завоеваниях35, переговорах, договорах36.

Этнокультурный сегмент включал КС-рубрики о положении, основании, упадке, возрождении, реставрации, характере, о новом, последнем37, рубрики о нравах, об особенностях народов38, о возрождении наук, о философии и философах, истории и авторах хроник, поэтах, о библиотеке, школах, искусстве39.

Анализ микроструктуры труда Э. Гиббона позволяет сделать вывод как о тождественности понимания представителями британской традиции роли микроструктуры в исторических трудах, так и о значимом твор-ческом вкладе Гиббона в развитие микроструктурного компонента историографического канона позднего Просвещения. Наиболее заметными особенностями микроструктуры его нарратива следует признать абсолютный максимум кратких «именных» рубрик, резкое расширение числа двойных рубрик, вариативность сочетаний в которых позволяла выделить специфику феноменов прошлого, и особый статус пролонгированных рубрик, предельно обнажавших структуру предлагаемых сюжетов.

Компаративный анализ показал, что бесспорным маркером британского историографического канона той эпохи была КС-рубрика о положении, характерная для микроструктуры всех сравниваемых трудов40. В «Истории» Гиббона есть те КС-рубрики, которые предпочитал Д. Юм (о гражданском, общем)41, и те, что характерны в большей мере для В. Робертсона, чем для Д. Юма (о первом, о происхождении, прогрессе, причинах)42. От ряда КС-рубрик предшественников (о делах, следствиях, о новом) Гиббон отказался либо вводил их заметно реже43. Он поддержал традицию значимых, но редких КС-рубрик-отступлений и рассмотрений44. КС-рубрикам о характере, об упадке, разделении, учреждении, падении, основании, реставрации, об окончательном им было придано большее значение по сравнению с Юмом и Робертсоном45. КС-рубрики о разрушении, революции, о последнем, как и заключения, описания, характерны только для труда Гиббона46. Создание масштабного сегмента КС-рубрик, наряду со сложной системой повторяющихся и однотипных, обеспечило историку, воссоздававшему предысторию западной цивилизации на излете века Просвещения, выход на приемлемый для него уровень упорядоченности текста.
