В статье на примере переписки Г.В. Лейбница c императором Священной Римской империи Карлом VI и его окружением исследуется проект создания Австрийской академии наук. Автор пытается понять, какие практические и идеологические функции должна была выполнять Академия, и определить роль политических и духовных факторов, влиявших на формирование ее образа.

The article deals with the project of the establishment of the Austrian Academy of Sciences discussed in the correspondence of Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz with Emperor Charles VI and his courtiers. The author tries to understand what kind of the practical and ideological functions were entrusted to the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and to define the role of the political and spiritual factors that influenced the Academy`s image.
